Welcome to Vinny & Vinyl Monthly Wine and Record Club release for December 2022, where we showcase a new bottle of wine paired with a vinyl record for your sipping and listening pleasure.
Colemine Records is a label specializing in soulful sounds. Starting out as a pipe dream in the college town of Oxford, OH and has grown into a small but mighty indie soul label known for traditional R&B, but covering a wide range of soulful music including funk, soul, R&B, latin, afro reggae, rare groove, soul jazz, and more! So, when I heard Soul Slabs Vol 1, I knew we had to have it in V&V. It’s a double LP of 22 tracks pulled from their 7-inch catalog, perfect for kicking back and sipping a glass of wine.
This month, we are excited to feature a bottle of 2019 Cabernet Franc from Sierra Foothills in CA. This wine is a perfect example of the depth and complexity that Cabernet Franc can bring to the table. On the nose, you'll find dark cherry, olive, cocoa and pencil shavings with a palate that is full-bodied and ripe. The tannins are firm and well-structured, giving this wine a long and satisfying finish.
Now for the pairing: Grab a glass of this delicious Cabernet Franc and cue up your record player with Soul Slabs Volume 1. This vinyl record is a compilation of soulful, groovy tracks from a variety of artists that are sure to get your feet moving and your hips shaking. The deep, rich sound of the vinyl adds an extra layer of depth and warmth to the music, making it the perfect complement to the full-bodied flavors of the Cabernet Franc.
