Vinny & Vinyl Release July 2022
This month we’re gettin funky, like a bow-legged monkey!
Tower of Power hit the Mile High City on July 20th and performed at Red Rocks for the first time in their funk-filled history. In honor of this historic occasion, Vinny & Vinyl honors this soul band playing soul music for 54 years with a limited 180gm vinyl pressing of BACK TO OAKLAND. This was the fourth album by the Bay Area based band, released in spring 1974. Tower of Power followed their self-titled gold album with (as said by many critics) an even better album. This record had tougher, funkier and better produced cuts, stronger vocals from Lenny Williams (who was more comfortable as their lead singer), and included an excellent ballad in 'Time Will Tell' and a rousing tempo in 'Don't Change Horses (In the Middle of a Stream)'.
And we’ve paired this up nicely with a 2019 Zinfandel from Amador County. Fruity raspberry, pepper and a dry chocolate finish.
